by Peggy Turner

Peggy Turner was born and raised in Georgetown County. She and her family later lived in Ohio and New Jersey for many years while her husband, David, worked for International Paper Company. They now live in Litchfield.

While living up north, Peggy dabbled in arts and crafts, but she didn’t pick up a paint brush for the first time until after she and David made their retirement move back to South Carolina in 1980. She began taking art classes and workshops from some well known art instructors in this area, and she credits them with igniting the most artistically fulfilling chapter of her life (so far).

Peggy specializes in watercolors with Lowcountry themes. Her art is currently displayed in several local galleries, including Art Works in Litchfield, and the Sea Sea Gallery in Surfside.

She is a member of the Georgetown County Watercolor Society and the South Carolina Watercolor Society.

Peggy’s work has won several awards – and she says that bringing beautiful pictures to life with the stroke of a brush brings her great peace, pleasure and joy.
