All Together Now
by Kip McCullough
Kip was born in Joplin, Mo., and is a self-taught painter. She joined the Navy in 1982 and was stationed throughout the South where she discovered a cultural awakening. She ended her tour in Virginia Beach, Va., where she opened a hat shop called “The Hat Attack.” The shop reflected her love of hats, which she later incorporated in her art.
In her paintings, Kip displays the love for bright colors and the cultural lessons learned in her travels. She has a long-term affection for humor in her designs, which gives her pleasure and a means to share her joy with others. Kip is featured in various galleries throughout the South, and received the Volunteer of the Year award for 1998 and Community Service Award in 2004. She is a member and former Vice-President of the Seacoast Artist Guild, The American Folk Art Guild and The Roundtable Art Group.
A former Pawleys Island resident, Kip currently lives and works in Mt. Pleasant, S.C. Locally, see her work at Fontinello’s in Murrells Inlet. Contact Kip at kudzugallery@bellsouth.net or 843-884-1112.
