Cover Artist: Dottie Dixon

Five Faces
by Dottie Dixon
Dottie Dixon is a native of South Carolina. Born in Columbia, her father’s career moved the family often while she was growing up. She and her family moved to Myrtle Beach in 1946, back when it was a small town and everyone knew everybody. When her children were young she enjoyed crafts, sewing, cross stitching, making hats and pocketbooks and other creative pursuits. Then, when she moved to Pawleys Island, a friend encouraged her to take up painting. She found it to be a great “Late in Life” hobby and has found painting to be an adventure. She says, “It gives me an ideal way to express myself and share with others. I just love my artist friends.”
Dottie’s work can be seen at Georgetown Art Gallery in Georgetown, as well as Art Works and Jim Nelson’s at Litchfield Exchange.
