Letter from the Editor: Living on the Edge
By Leslie Moore

For as many years as I’ve been living in this area (more than 30), we’ve gone to Brookgreen Gardens and had a picnic sometime around Mother’s Day. Both my mother and my mother-in-law love the gardens and this outing was always a sure bet for a good time. My mother has been gone for many years now, but I still think of her when I visit Brookgreen. I had the privilege of visiting the state of the art greenhouse that provides most of the plant material for these spectacular gardens, and met Christine Todd, the Greenhouse/Nursery Manager. Christine is the subject of this month’s “Garden Digs” feature, and I hope you enjoy meeting her as much as I did.
I also think you’ll enjoy meeting Kaye Barrier, this month’s “Woman of Character.” She is one of the most inspiring women I’ve ever met. Thank you to all who have submitted an essay. There are a lot of amazing women out there!
Happy Mother’s Day,
Leslie
Live with intention. Walk to the edge. Listen hard. Practice wellness. Play with abandon. Laugh. Choose with no regret. Appreciate your friends. Continue to learn. Do what you love. Live as if this is all there is.
