A Season of Color

A Season of Color

It’s time to think about spring! Sunshine, chirping birds and blossoming flowers will soon take the place of these recent cold, dreary, overcast days. With a new season comes a new palette of color that will encompass the world fashion, interior design, print, and commerce.

Every year experts from all over the world come together to discuss the theory of color and work jointly to produce a palette for each season that they feel best symbolizes the mood and direction of our planet. This year, a blend of energetic bolds and calming pastels was chosen to represent 2014.

A Season of Color

Executive Director Leatrice Eiseman of the Pantone Color Institute® explains the Spring 2014 palette: “This season, consumers are looking for a state of thoughtful, emotional and artistic equilibrium. While this need for stability is reflected in the composition of the palette, the inherent versatility of the individual colors allows for experimentation with new looks and color combinations.”

At the forefront of these distinctive hues is the highly anticipated Pantone Color of the Year. This year it is the delicate and blissful purple – Radiant Orchid. Pantone® has described it as a “expressive, creative and embracing purple” that “emanates great joy, love and health.” Whatever your style, there is a good chance that this influential color will pop into your wardrobe or grace your interiors in some fashion over the coming year.
