Letter from the Editor: A Life of Elegance

Letter from the Editor

Every month, I come up with a list of questions for our Sasee interviews, and this month I asked everyone to define elegance. Without exception, the answers were thoughtful and interesting. One person told me this was a very challenging question, and after giving it some thought, I agreed. Elegance is defined in many ways, and is often used as a synonym for beauty, but I know many women who are not what society would call beautiful and are still elegant. It’s not the clothes either. I have a friend who, even gardening in her oldest pair of shorts and a tee shirt, is one of the most elegant women I’ve ever known. So what is it? I guess we all have our own definition, but I believe elegance is self-confidence tempered by a kind heart and gentle nature. Elegant women feel good about who they are, and are not overly concerned about other’s opinions, even though they do take care of themselves and are careful with their appearance. That said, all women have elements of elegance and grace. It’s part of who we are as women, and if we love ourselves, elegance comes naturally.

Enjoy our “Elegant” issue! It is beautiful and filled with lots of fun reading. I’d love to hear your thoughts on elegance – send them to me at lmoore@strandmedia.com, post them on our Facebook page or just drop me a card. Your words may end up in a future issue of Sasee!

Elegance is the only beauty that never fades.
