Letter from the Editor: Season of Miracles

By Leslie Moore

Letter from the Editor

Through next spring, my son is living and working in France, in a small town about a four hour train ride south of Paris. Aside from recent events, which have not affected his village, he is happy teaching English to high school students and exploring a new corner of the world. As a small boy, my son would write the French words for household items on note cards and use masking tape to attach them to everything we owned – going to France has been a lifelong dream. Happiness has not come easily to my son, growing up he was often melancholy and frustrated, but with a lot of love and attention from two devoted parents, plus an older sister who adored him, he thrived until, at 10 years old, his father, my husband, died suddenly. Our lives slid in a downward spiral for years. Serious depression and hopelessness nearly took his life. But, miraculously, in college, my troubled son turned his life around, rekindled his dream and graduated with honors. He began seeing himself reflected in the eyes of others in a positive light and blossomed into who he really is – a kind, gentle and intelligent young man. I still have one of those note cards on my ceiling, dirty and dog-eared, to remind myself that miracles do happen, and while I will miss him being home this Christmas, every time I stand in my kitchen and look up, I give thanks for answered prayers and miracles.

May your “Season of Miracles” be blessed and filled with love. All of the Sasee crew are grateful for your support throughout the year – you, dear reader, are why we are here. We have some fun and exciting new features planned for 2016 – please let us know what you think!

The miracle is this: the more we share the more we have.
