Letter from the Editor: Heart & Soul
By Leslie Moore

This month, Sasee focuses on one of everyone’s favorite topics – romance! In the pages of this issue, you’ll find essays about love, ways to wine and dine your beloved and more. But, what if you are without a partner? What then? For me, at least, it’s a little disheartening to see everyone paired in what seems to be a perfect relationship, everyone, that is, except me. One Valentine’s Day, not too long after I was widowed, I wrote cards to friends and loved ones. I added a small chocolate treat and delivered them. By the time I was done, I felt like a million bucks! This year, I’m thinking of a massage or maybe a mani/pedi. Something totally self indulgent, followed by watching a favorite feel good movie on Netflix. Or, maybe I’ll ask a friend to join me at the spa and go for a glass of wine afterward.
Love comes in many forms and it’s all cause for celebration. I am blessed with the love of good friends and family, plus my beloved furbabies. When I start feeling left out this year, I’m going to focus on them. In addition to the kittens (who are still waiting for the “purrfect” forever home – let me know if you want a great forever friend) and my sweet Annie, I am fostering a dog for friends who are in the middle of building a home. His name is Pongo, and his nearly 100 pounds of loving energy and a tail that rarely stops wagging keep my spirits lifted.
Happy Valentine’s Day – Here’s to love, wherever we may find it!
The best thing to hold onto in life is each other.
