Letter From the Editor: Abundant Blessings

By Leslie Moore

Like most of you, reading is, and always has been, one of my greatest joys. I can remember being 8 or 9 years old and getting so excited when the library would get a new Pippi Longstocking book – I’d take the book, climb my favorite tree and spend the afternoon in another world – the times I spent reading outside on a beautiful day are some of my happiest memories. The library was my favorite place to go, and fortunately I had parents who encouraged my love of reading, taking me to the library weekly and buying me special books on holidays. My childhood love of reading led to a fascination with the written word that has stayed with me throughout my life.

Fast forward to today, and nothing much has changed. I still haunt the library, although sometimes it’s the online catalogue I peruse. I’m rarely without my Kindle tucked close by – just in case I have a minute to read – and a paper book is always on my nightstand for evening reading. A few years ago I met a kindred soul, Nicole McManus, whose love of reading led to her to become a talented book reviewer. Her skillfully-written reviews have been featured monthly in Sasee for several years now, much to the delight of readers. I am so excited to announce that Nicole has started the very first Sasee Book Club on our Facebook page! This is the perfect book club for those of us who love reading in our pajamas – you don’t have to go anywhere, just log into Facebook to join in the monthly live chat. Early each month, Nicole assigns us a book, with a live chat scheduled at the end of the month. I am confident you’ll love her selections and insightful comments! I invite each of you to join us – just “like” Sasee and the Sasee Book Club on Facebook for notifications about each month’s book and the time of the live chat. Please say hello when you stop by!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Gratitude and attitude are not challenges; they are choices.
