Sharing and Caring

Myra Levine:Carolina Car Care

This month, we’ll gather to count our blessings and give thanks. What are your top three blessings and why?

I would say I am blessed with a wonderful family home, good health and a successful business with caring employees. I have a husband, two sons and two grandbabies – Carter is 3 and Callie is 5 months. I’m actually babysitting both of them a couple of days a week and love it!

How do you give back and why?

We support Bikini Beach Cat Rescue and donate to many different charities and events –we try to be a part of whatever is going on in the community. I love talking to my customers and hearing about their families and sharing about mine – and helping them whenever I can. We’ve been in business for 21 years, and my customers are like my extended family.

Thanksgiving is also the “food” holiday. What will you reach for first on the holiday table? Did you prepare it?

The first thing I reach for is Mom’s homemade dressing. It comes from my Nanny’s recipe. She only makes it twice a year, so you have to eat all you can! [laughing] I’ve been doing all the cooking for the last couple of years since Mom decided I was “old enough” to take on work of cooking Thanksgiving dinner, giving her a break. I love cooking for my family, but Mom still has to make the dressing – I just haven’t mastered that. This Thanksgiving and Christmas I’ve got to pay attention, so I can learn to make it.

As a woman in the car care business would you give our readers some advice about how to properly care for their car between visits to the repair shop?

Always keep the proper amount of air in your tires. It saves gas mileage and increases the life of your tires. Adding a gas treatment to your gas tank will also help with keeping the injectors clean, which also helps with gas mileage. If you take care of your car, it will take care of you. We would love to have to you stop by with any questions!

I know you go the extra mile to give women a positive experience at Carolina Car Care. Can you talk about that?

It is thought that women don’t know a lot of about cars, but neither do a lot of men, really. I try to explain everything, and I show customers how things work and explain why the car is having a problem. It is important to us at Carolina Car Care that everyone feels like we understand their car and that you feel important while we complete your repairs. By the time their car is ready, our customers have had a pleasant experience – I feel like I’m giving back to them by making repairs a breeze!
