Summer Air Conditioner Maintenance

By Cherubina Hicks

Keeping the vents clean and clear in your home and appliances can have a big impact on your home’s heating and cooling costs. The most important are your air conditioning vents. You’ve probably heard many times that you need to change this filter as often as every 30 days. The frequency depends on the quality of your filter, how much you use your AC system, and how much debris is regularly pulled into the intake. An AC system running efficiently is much less expensive than one running with a dirty filter. Once you determine if you need to replace or refresh your filter, make sure that the vents on your intake are clean and free of dust as well.

A programmable thermostat will reduce costs and ensure your unit operates efficiently. Removing debris from the outside is another way to keep your unit running well. We see a lot of problems stemming from debris being left on the outside intake unit.

Have you ever paused to think how many other filters in your home need changing? What about the vent on your refrigerator? Yes, the vent is in the back and is difficult to get to, but your refrigerator consumes more energy than any other home appliance. It’s important to make sure the filter is clean and unobstructed every few months.

If you find that you don’t have time for your summer AC maintenance or the job is just too big for your schedule, don’t hesitate to call us and request one of our experienced craftsmen to help! Having your AC unit serviced annually will save you many unexpected problems.
