Cover Artist: Robert Maitland

“Mirror Image” by Robert Maitland

Robert Maitland’s paintings are captured moments from his past, often painted from memory. Living in New York City, Robert draws inspiration from the great art museums that New York has to offer. He first visited these museums when he was very young, with his sister and parents – all of them artists. There are many artists Robert cites as influential but he particularly likes the Ashcan school, with artists such as John French Sloan and George Bellows as favorites.

Robert was an English Major at Ithaca College in Upstate New York, and also studied acting when he moved to Manhattan. The artist has also published poetry, but painting has always been his first love. He particularly likes to do figurative work and landscape painting. Robert has created cover art for a novel and two books of poetry and often exhibits in group shows in New York.
