Sasee in the City: January 8, 2009

In this segment of Sasee in the City, Sasee Editor, Leslie Moore, talks about our January issue.

Our January theme is “A Moment of Zen,” and the beautiful cover art is by Yury Piskun, an artist from Belarus. Locally, his work is displayed at Art by Marina Fine Art Gallery in Conway.

January also marks the beginning of our “Women of Character” feature. Together with WMBF News and Cinzia, The Spa at North Beach Plantation, we will honor women in our community who have made a difference in the lives of others. I think all of us have had women in our lives that inspired, touched, and even changed us in a very real way. We are asking viewers to send us short essays of 500 words or less about the special women in their lives. Each month we will celebrate and honor one of these women, and at the end of the year, A “Woman of Character” will be chosen and honored in a very special way.

Nicole’s segment this week is all about shoes! Her picks include a wide range of choices, from the classic cowboy boot to the hottest new trends! Information about where to find Nicole’s shoe picks is located below. Get out with the family for some holiday fun on December 19 when Market Common will be offering [...]

Or for a richly scented treat, try one of the new chocolate body treatments.

Sasee in the City with Delores Blount

It’s time to have fun with Halloween decorations! Delores Blount gives us some great ideas for Halloween decorating that can be used through Thanksgiving with just a few changes. Delores shows us a great Halloween arrangement made using wild flowers and vines picked from the roadside, and a fun and whimsical arrangement using pumpkins and gourds. It’s easy to get in the spirit with your outside decorations using old sheets for ghosts and inexpensive “spider webs,” etc. To light up an area, make a “tree” from wire or vines and string with Halloween lights. These can easily be changed for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Sasee in the City events this week are the South Strand Garden Club’s Annual Fashion Show on the 27th at First Methodist Church in Surfside, and, on Halloween, the Moveable Feast will feature Anne Rivers Siddons, author of Off Season, at Pawleys Plantation. Art lovers won’t want to miss the Art Walk in downtown Conway on November 1 – it’s not too early to start buying those special Christmas gifts.

Theatre lovers will not be disappointed with this season’s offerings, as Susan Bryant outlines what’s currently on stage in our community. Theatre of the Republic in Conway is performing Man of LaMancha, and Ray Conney’s comedy Out of Order is now playing at the Strand Theatre in Georgetown. Beginning on November 6, Murrells Inlet Community [...]
