Cover Artist: Sherry Strickland Martin

Sherry is an award-winning watercolorist and past member of the South Carolina Watermedia Society, holding a Signature In Excellence, who resides along the Hammock Coast of Murrells Inlet, SC. Her works are both corporately and privately owned throughout the world. Early in her career, Sherry taught privately in gallery settings and has done corporate contract work in fabric design, illustration, and furniture design manufacturing. During her 16 years living in Hilton Head, SC, Sherry incorporated her art business, licensing her artwork to gift and housewares manufacturers for surface designs nationally. Products included dinnerware, woven blankets, tapestry materials, notecards, fine art prints, and a host of other products that were sold through companies such as Kirklands, SteinMart, Kohl’s, Walmart, and many other small business specialty shops nationally. Sherry has done commissioned figure portraits for the NFL, PGA, Clemson and Georgia football and has had her landscape artwork grace the cover of Colonial Home Magazine. A second career brought Sherry home to Horry County, teaching visual arts in order to bring her vast experiences in the field to high school-aged youth interested in developing their skills and knowledge of the visual arts. Since retiring after 18 years of teaching, she works daily in her home studio creating watercolors and oil paintings for galleries and a growing number of collectors.
