Dr. Katie’s Bark and Brief: Holiday Edition

The holidays bound with excitement on the coast! However, nothing can spoil our good cheer like an unplanned emergency trip to the veterinary clinic.

I recommend that you plan ahead of time by having the information for the closet emergency vet clinic including their phone number, address and hours of operation BEFORE a problem arises.

Helpful tips for a Happy Holiday Season:

Keep the following dangerous items out of your pets reach:

  • Chocolate, sweets and baked goods
  • Leftover table foods including meats, gravies, sauces, and anything that is high in fat
  • Unbaked yeast doughs
  • Trash
  • Ornaments, ribbons, tinsel, Christmas trees and the tree water, festive flowers (lilies, poinsettias, mistle toe, balsam, pine, cedar, holly)
  • Candles and potpourri

Visitors can also cause unwanted health and stress concerns in our pets. Be sure that your furry friends have access to a quiet, familiar area where they can stay or escape to if needed.
