DESCRIPTION:Join us on Saturday\, November 9th for the 31st Annual Turtle Strut 5K/8K Run/Walk. This race is held in memory of Chief Guy Osborne\, former Pawleys Island Police Chief who passed away in 2015. Participants will start at the Pawleys Island Nature Park and head south on Myrtle Avenue along the Pawleys Island Creek. 5K participants will turn around in the Bird’s Nest area of the island while 8K runners will continue down Springs Avenue and enjoy a stunning ocean view. The 8K will turn around at the far south end beach access and head back to the Nature Park toward the finish line. This early morning race will take place on an extremely flat course\, with amazing natural beauty. \n\n\n\nPawleys Island is a barrier island less than 4 miles long and mostly 1 house wide\, separated from the mainland by a beautiful salt marsh and accessible by two short causeways. It is located 70 miles north of Charleston and 25 miles south of Myrtle Beach and is known as one of the oldest summer resorts on the East Coast.

DESCRIPTION:Athletes will experience a professional event\, featuring a beautifully designed competition floor similar to that of some of the biggest events in the CrossFit space. FOTC organization and communication are the gold standard among events\, and athletes will never be left in the dark when it comes to event communication. Athletes will experience fun\, yet challenging programming that is division appropriate. \n\n\n\nThe event takes place in the climate controlled halls of the Charleston Convention Center in historic Charleston\, SC\, and features a large vendor village\, a separate hall for athletes to lounge in during the competition and a large warm-up area. In total 75\,000 sq feet of spaced is used! Seating will be available for athletes and spectators around the competition floor. \n\n\n\nNearby hotels provide athletes the ability to walk to the Convention Center. Individuals compete Friday into Saturday afternoon. Two-person teams compete Saturday afternoon into Sunday mid-afternoon. All divisions feature a minimum of five workout scores. \n\n\n\nCharleston\, South Carolina\, has regularly been named the top U.S. city to visit\, so be sure to plan to stop at some of the world-famous restaurants and breweries while at Fittest of the Coast!

Vera’s family has created these vessels of memory for eight generations. DESCRIPTION:The Shuckin’ on the Strand Oyster Roast is the Grand Strand’s largest oyster roast\, open to the public and serving up oysters\, food and fixins. \n\n\n\nThe 16th annual Shuckin’ on the Strand Oyster Roast hosted by Grand Strand Young Professionals will be held Saturday\, Feb. 8\, from noon-4 p.m. at the Hot Fish Club at 4911 Hwy. 17 S. Bus. in Murrells Inlet. All proceeds benefit Substitutes for Santa\, an annual event hosted by GSYP every December giving 150 local children a magical Christmas. \n\n\n\nThere will be live entertainment by Paul Grimshaw. \n\n\n\nAttendance is limited and purchasing tickets in advance is recommended. Adult tickets are $40\, which includes all you can eat oysters\, one plate of chicken bog and fixin’s and two beers. Take home a commemorative oyster shucker for $5\, available as an option in your ticket purchase. You can purchase a child ticket (12 and under) who do not eat oysters for $10. Adults who do not eat oysters can purchase a $20 ticket\, which will include one plate of chicken bog and two beers. \n\n\n\nPlease note you may not bring chairs into the venue and parking is limited.

DESCRIPTION:Format & Details:Once a player registers for a Minor League Pickleball event\, their rating is “locked” and their DUPR increasing or decreasing will not impact their team’s aggregate or division placement. \n\n\n\nMiLP FORMAT:Minor League Pickleball is an innovative team competition where teams of 4 players (2 women and 2 men) compete against each other in an engaging format\, with twists on traditional match-ups and scoring for games\, matches\, and tiebreakers. Teams compete against each other in Matches using the MLPlay™ format: \n\n\n\nMLPlay™ is an ingenious gameplay format that brings men and women together on a level playing court. In the MLPlay™ format team matches are composed of four 21-point games\, one women’s doubles\, a men’s doubles\, and the final two games consisting of mixed doubles. If both teams are tied at 2-2 after the 4 games are played\, they’ll go to a Dreambreaker™! In a Dreambreaker™ one person from each team plays singles against the other team’s player\, switching players every four rallies until someone gets to 21 and wins by two points. \n\n\n\nScoring: Rally (Games to 21 win by 2 points) (You have to score on your serve to win) \n\n\n\nDOUBLES FORMAT: \n\n\n\n1. Tournament Details:– Scoring Format: Rally (You have to score on your serve to win)– Minimum Games: Each team will be scheduled for at least 5 games.– Score Tracking: Pickleball Charleston will record All game scores in DUPR.– Based on Ratings: Teams are placed into pools based on their combined team rating (your rating + your partner’s rating).– Event Combining: Depending on the number of teams:– Divisions may be combined based on skill level or age to ensure a better playing experience. \n\n\n\n2. Bracket Formation:– Initial Setup: Teams will first compete in a Round Robin format.– Skill Level Adjustments: Skill levels might be mixed during the Round Robin. Giveaways of over $1\,000 in cash and prizes will be awarded to the top four costumes. \n\n\n\nParade and costume registration begins at 5p.m. to 6:35p.m. Anyone can join the parade along the way\, but only the participants who registered will be considered for prizes.
