Some garments that are too fragile to ever be worn again\u2014such as a Charles Frederick Worth ballgown from 1877\u2014will also be displayed via video animation, light projection, AI, CGI, and other forms of sensory stimulation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year\u2019s 2024 Met Gala dress code is “The Garden of Time.” Inspired by J.G. Ballard’s short story of the same title, written in 1962, it can be interpreted in a myriad of ways. The story itself tells the story of a count and countess who live in a villa that overlooks an extraordinary garden being intruded upon by a mob.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Out on the carpet, we may see literal interpretations of flowers, with distinct stems and petals. But there is something more melancholic about Ballard\u2019s vision. As Vogue instructs, \u201cmoody florals won\u2019t be moody enough,\u201d so expect some black or gothic blooms as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Who is invited to the Met Gala?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event usually hosts around 600 attendees. The event welcomes stars, young creatives, and industry leaders each year. Until the evening before the event, the guest list is top secret. But some of the biggest names in the business regularly attend\u2014from Beyonc\u00e9 and Lady Gaga to Madonna and Rihanna. Often, designers attend with their muses: think Marc Jacobs and Kate Moss, or Nicolas Ghesqui\u00e8re and Emma Stone. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
