Cover Artist: Lana Frey

After receiving her artistic education in the studio of Tolmachev M.S., Lana devoted much of her time to traveling and was inspired to start writing books and poetry. However, writing alone wasn’t enough; she felt called to return to painting. History, myths, and legends inspire her artwork, but above all, she is captivated by emotions—love, joy, desire, sadness, and many more. She strives to capture and express these emotions through colors and balanced, harmonious forms. Using a palette knife, she applies fast, large strokes to preserve the raw energy of her emotions and visions. She never plans for color variations or shades, nor does she sketch faces, as she finds sketches unnecessary when working with thick layers of paint. For her, painting is a living, spontaneous process and pure improvisation. Lana continues to explore new styles, forms, and subjects, often blending artistic styles that are traditionally considered “incompatible.” Rarely working on just one painting at a time, she paints almost daily. Her dedication to her craft and her imaginative approach has earned her recognition, leading to exhibitions in cities such as Paris, Rome, New York, Aix-en-Provence, Lyon, and Miami—a list she hopes to expand even further. She hopes that others can find something in her art that resonates with and inspires them, just as it does for her.
