“Don’t Forget Him”

Thrive with Dr. Torri: Tips for a Healthier You | May 2025

This June, as we celebrate the men in our lives, it’s worth pausing to ask a simple question: When was the last time he had a check-up?

Let’s be honest. Most men are a little stubborn when it comes to their health. They’ll tough it out, power through, or brush it off with an “I’m fine” even when something doesn’t feel quite right. But skipping appointments doesn’t make symptoms disappear, it just pushes the problem down the road. Sometimes, that road gets bumpy fast.

As women, we’re often the ones holding everything together from scheduling appointments, refilling prescriptions, to watching out for everyone else. We’re also usually the first to notice when something seems “off.” Whether it’s low energy, weight gain, trouble sleeping, or mood changes, those can be signs of something deeper. Routine lab work can provide the answers. From hormone levels and heart health to blood sugar and prostate markers, these tests offer a snapshot of what’s really going on inside.

It’s easy to assume he’s doing fine, especially when life is busy. But too often, we don’t find out something is wrong until it becomes serious. A simple blood panel can identify risks early, often years before symptoms show up. It’s one of the most powerful tools we have in protecting long-term health.

And this isn’t just about illness. It’s about quality of life. When men stay on top of their health, they sleep better, think clearer, and feel stronger. That means more time for Saturday projects, golf with friends, chasing grandkids, or simply enjoying life without the nagging “what ifs.”

So this Father’s Day, yes – celebrate him. But also encourage him to take care of himself! Book the appointment. Ask the hard questions. Support him the same way you support everyone else … because he matters too.

Health is a journey. The best way to walk it is with the people you love, feeling strong every step of the way.
