Give Back this Holiday Season: 12 Local Charities and Organizations That Need Our Help
1. Associated Charities of Myrtle Beach. A long-standing volunteer-operated charity serving the homeless and impoverished in the Grand Strand.
How to help: Drop off clean clothing, shoes, linens, and towels at their donation bin, or organize a holiday drive to gather essentials for their “Give Away Days.”
2. Helping Hand of Myrtle Beach. Established in 1971, this organization helps individuals and families with short-term urgent needs like food, rent, utilities, and other crises.
How to help: Donate funds or gift cards for utilities, volunteer during the holiday rush, or prepare “comfort kits” (blankets and non-perishables) to distribute.
3. Helping Hands of Georgetown County. A 35-year-old organization providing food, clothing, utility assistance, dental care, and youth empowerment in the Georgetown area.
How to help: Pack and donate “Holiday Relief Boxes” (warm socks, a small gift, non-perishables) or volunteer your time sorting donations and helping distribute them.
4. Help 4 Kids. A 100% volunteer-run organization that feeds, cloths, and supports children across Horry County.
How to help: Donate new kids’ winter clothing (sizes 6-14), assist as a phone volunteer or food drive volunteer, or host a food drive at your place of business.
5. St. Christopher’s Children. Provides new clothing and orthodontic care to underserved and disadvantaged children in Georgetown County.
How to help: Donate new clothing or funds for orthodontic treatment, volunteer at their resale store, or host a winter clothing drive for children.
6. Meals on Wheels of Horry & Georgetown County, Inc. Delivers hot meals and provides companionship to homebound elderly, terminally ill, or otherwise isolated individuals in Horry & Georgetown Counties.
How to help: Volunteer as a delivery driver or meal packer, donate food items from their registry (rice, canned goods, etc.), or support their “holiday meals” fund.
7. Good Friends of Georgetown County. A nonprofit organization of women who seek to improve the quality of life for people in Georgetown County who face a temporary financial crisis that threatens basic human needs.
How to help: Become a corporate sponsor, participate in a fundraising event, or donate to one of their holiday-focused campaigns.

8. Neighbor to Neighbor. A volunteer-based transportation service that offers transportation, connection, pantry items, and companionship to support the independence of homebound adults.
How to help: Sign up as a volunteer driver during the holiday season, donate to maintain vans and fuel, and/or organize a holiday rides initiative for seniors to attend festive events.
9. All4Paws Animal Rescue. A no-kill dog and cat rescue that has saved over 21,000 animals, providing these animals with a second chance at life by finding them the right forever homes.
How to help: Volunteer for kennel care or transport animals, foster an animal, donate pet supplies, medical care funds, or adopt during the holidays.
10. Grand Strand Humane Society. An open-admission animal shelter caring for lost, homeless, and abandoned animals in the Myrtle Beach area.
How to help: Donate pet food, blankets, toys, volunteer for dog walking or cat socializing, foster or adopt an animal during the holiday season.
11. Barnabas Horse Foundation. Uses equine-assisted services for children and adults recovering from trauma, abuse, or disability.
How to help: Volunteer with horses or program assistance, donate funds or supplies, host a holiday fundraiser or gift drive to support their therapy programs.
12. Black River United Way. Mobilizes resources for early grade learning, family self-sufficiency and disaster resilience in the region.
How to help: Contribute to their fund drive, volunteer in literacy or early-childhood programs, host a workplace giving campaign during the holidays.
