May 2024 – Letter from the Editor

As we sat down as a team to create this year’s editorial calendar, this particular issue was one I was most looking forward to. “Empowered women empower women.” Such a simple statement, yet it carries so much weight. To me, it means creating a culture of support and encouragement amongst women so that we can help each other follow our dreams and hopefully succeed in doing so.

For my entire life, my main support system has been my mom. Her unwavering belief in my potential has been a constant source of inspiration in my life and has gotten me through many hardships and triumphs. She taught me how to be strong, independent, resilient, and a good friend. She is my number one supporter; she believes in me even when I don’t believe in myself. Amidst all my self-doubt, it was her belief in me that gave me the courage to follow my passion for coaching and, more recently, to pursue my new role with Sasee.

Looking back on the countless sacrifices she made to ensure my happiness and success, it amazes me how selfless she was. Late nights spent driving me to and from sports practices, long weekends spent traveling all over the state for soccer tournaments, and the fact that she never missed one of my games. She was always there when I needed her, but also gave me the space I needed to grow into my own person.

I always thought my mom was the strongest person I knew, but I didn’t realize until I got older how much of that strength she was inadvertently giving to me, and for that, I’m incredibly lucky. As you read through this issue, I encourage you to think about someone in your life who has supported you through your journey. Whether it’s a parent, a mentor, or a friend, take a moment today to acknowledge them. And if you can’t think of anyone, who’s to say you can’t be that person for someone else? The cycle can start with you. The more we empower each other, the more empowered we become.
