New Year’s Resolutions, New Beginnings, and Fresh Starts Can Be Very Time Consuming

by George Walter

Photography – My New Beginning – actually began last January, not because I planned it, but because life’s journey makes many unforeseen twists and turns.

Looking back, the journey began decades ago in a photography class at the University of Cincinnati. During my freshman year in Advertising Design, we were challenged to build our own camera and take black and white photos. I was totally unaware that this would be the beginning of a lifelong photographic journey.

I am not a professional photographer, but instead a graphic designer. During my 50+ year career in advertising/marketing, both supplied and commissioned photography became an intricate part of most projects. I was fortunate to have art-directed photography for small design groups, large agencies, in-house advertising departments, as well as my own advertising agency.

My photography has always been about family. During many of our family trips, I found myself drawn to nature’s beauty. From flower details in the Dominican Republic, to landscapes and seascapes in Maine, Florida, and Montana. Mexico, Alaska, and Prince Edward Island sunrises, sunsets, and skies were always in my lens.

Life is full of unusual, unique, beautiful, and often one–of–a–kind visual experiences. Fortunately, my lifelong photographic journey has enabled me to capture many breathtaking images.

Along the way, I also became visually attracted to car details at car auctions and shows, as well as creating Flower Art on my computer using only my mouse.

It wasn’t until my wife Sandy and I relocated to Myrtle Beach six years ago, and last year when our ad agency finally closed, that I realized I needed something meaningful to do – My New Beginning.

After realizing I had literally thousands of images from decades of personal photography, I began my hobby-like venture last January. It took hundreds of hours to research, analyze, organize, catalogue, sample, select the photos, and create a website to show the various galleries.

This year, I also became a member of the Waccamaw Arts & Crafts Guild and the Seacoast Artists Guild, with my work presently on display in both galleries.

My dream is to have these images used as home or office wall graphics to brighten lives, light up rooms, create lasting conversations, and bring years of visual enjoyment.

Please feel free to view my galleries, and if so moved, order from a variety of items available in multiple sizes and mediums at waltercreative.shootproof.com or contact me directly at george@waltercreative.com.
