Shelly Hartman: The Relationship-Building Realtor

What a privilege it is to introduce myself to readers in the Sasee community. My name is Shelly Hartman and I am a full time Realtor in what I strongly believe is the best place on the planet to live and enjoy life…Myrtle Beach, SC! From our state parks and fresh seafood to miles of sandy beaches and seasonal weather, Myrtle Beach and the surrounding areas are just a few of the reasons I chose to live and work here.

My husband, Sandy, and I moved to Myrtle Beach from Baltimore in 2010 after many years of vacationing in the Myrtle Beach area. Prior to moving here we visited many different and exciting cities across the Country for a place to “call home” and found we kept coming back to Myrtle Beach. We planted roots and from there decided to help others realize why our “slice of paradise” could be their “slice of paradise” as well.  So, Realtors we became and Hartman & Hartman Real Estate Professionals was born.

As realtors, we work with sellers, buyers, and investors to ensure they fulfill their goals. My job is to listen intently to their wants, needs and desires and try to facilitate a seamless and stress free path to get to that proverbial “closing table.” Although my clients will always have my undivided attention, both buyers and sellers do require different actions or activities to get to that closing table and I work very diligently to get them there. Regardless of what type of client you are, my #1 objective is to ensure your goals are met to the best of my ability and with the utmost professionalism.

I am certain most buyers, if not all buyers, have been counseled on the need to speak with a local lender and get pre-approved before beginning their house shopping part of the process. You might ask why this is the first leg of the journey.  It is to protect you and your interests. You do not want to begin your house tours not knowing how much you qualify for or if you need some credit rehabilitation in order to even qualify for a mortgage. We shouldn’t put the cart before the horse. So don’t be THAT buyer who falls in love with a home you can’t afford. It is very discouraging. So remember… First Things First.

I often advise my seller clients how important it is to take my professional advice when it comes to price, condition, cleanliness, staging, decluttering etc..because I know, as an expert in the industry, what will make the biggest impact and command the highest and best price with the least amount of time on market. Again, it is all about communicating, listening and educating the homeowner. We, as agents, must provide valuable and easy to understand information on local market conditions as well as suitable comps in order to get the seller on board with the listing process.

One of the biggest keys to working in this sometimes chaotic industry is having a strong ability to communicate, to listen with intention and to have plenty of patience and grace. I know that traits like these along with loyalty, a client first mentality and a whole lot of integrity “sprinkled on top” are qualities people are yearning for these days. My clients not only become friends but they are treated like family and I cherish every one we have helped. This is why I LOVE what I do!

The Myrtle Beach Market is a solid market. As with any market, there will be hills and valleys but Myrtle Beach is thriving both with new construction and large and small business growth. If interest rates concern you, let us connect you with a local lender and familiarize yourself with loan options that would include how to lower your interest rates.

If you only have a toe in the ocean right now because you have been on the fence about whether it is a good time to be the next Myrtle Beach resident, I encourage you to JUMP IN~ You will thank me later!
