When and where will this year’s In the Pink walk take place?
The Tidelands Health In the Pink breast cancer awareness walk is set for Saturday, Oct. 19, at 9:30 a.m. at an all-new location – the beautiful Brookgreen Gardens.
Thanks to the long-time partnership between Tidelands Health and Brookgreen Gardens, this year’s In the Pink participants will take in the relaxing sights and sounds of the internationally recognized gardens while completing the one-mile walk.
Is there a theme for the walk this year?
The theme for this year’s In the Pink breast cancer awareness walk is “No one walks alone.” This is a powerful and important reminder to all affected by breast cancer that they have the caring and dedicated support of their community and our health system. From diagnosis through treatment and recovery, we stand with you and offer a helping hand throughout every step of the journey.
Donning pink event T-shirts and their best pink accessories, In the Pink walkers come together in a pink parade to convey a powerful message that “No one walks alone” and emotionally support all those affected by breast cancer.
Everyone who takes part in the In the Pink walk helps bring this year’s theme to life.
What are the primary goals of the In the Pink walk, both in raising funds and in raising awareness for breast cancer?
In the Pink is our region’s largest breast cancer awareness event, with hundreds of participants coming together to celebrate breast cancer survivors, remember those lost to the disease, and raise money to support care.
Proceeds from In the Pink support the Tidelands Health breast care fund, which supports breast care in our community.
How has the event grown over the years, and how has it impacted the local community and beyond?
In its 19th year, In the Pink has become a signature breast cancer awareness event in our community during October, Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Hundreds of walkers participate every year, and we’re expecting our largest walk ever this October at the new location.
In addition to its powerful impact on raising awareness and bringing the community together on event day, the funds raised through In the Pink help individuals in our region year-round. Proceeds from the event support the Tidelands Health breast care fund.
What can participants expect when they join the In the Pink walk?
Registered participants receive a commemorative event T-shirt and complimentary admission to Brookgreen Gardens for the day.
In the Pink participants should come ready for an uplifting morning filled with camaraderie and inspiring stories of hope while raising awareness of breast cancer and funds to make a difference in the lives of those in need in our region.
Is there any other information you’d like the community to know about the walk or Tidelands Health’s involvement in raising awareness for breast cancer research?
We are incredibly grateful to our community for participating in and supporting In the Pink for nearly two decades. We look forward to donning our best pink and walking with you on Oct. 19.
While the spotlight is on our breast care efforts in October, our team supports efforts and provides high-quality care year-round. With locations in Myrtle Beach, Murrells Inlet, and Georgetown, the Tidelands Health Breast Center is accredited by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers. Tidelands Health is also a member of the MUSC Hollings Cancer Network. This collaboration offers clinical and direct patient benefits and enhanced connectivity to MUSC’s research and education expertise.
Where can people go to find more information and register for the walk?
