Shengsheng Zhou (also known as Lizzy) is a mixed-media oil painter based in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Raised to view art as impractical, she initially pursued an academic career before ultimately returning to creative practice, recognizing artistic expression as essential rather than peripheral to her life.

Her work focuses on figurative painting that merges classical techniques with poetic storytelling. Drawing from a background in language and narrative, Zhou treats painting as a form of visual literature, using symbolism, atmosphere, and gesture to explore emotional and psychological landscapes. Her work frequently features female figures, mythic undertones, and moments of quiet transformation.
