In Full Bloom: Rose Arbor Fabrics has experienced continued growth over the last 30 years

By Ashley Daniels

For the past 33 years, Rose Arbor Fabrics has been a wildly successful home interior institution in the Myrtle Beach area.

Owner Page Nash took over the store in 1994, and a second Rose Arbor location opened in Pawleys Island in 2015. Since then, they quickly outgrew the Pawleys Island store to where they are now. Proof that Rose Arbor Fabrics has grown in popularity and demand over the last three decades.

“People have always loved coming in here and getting ideas – and there’s a lot to see,” says Nash with a laugh. “We have a lot of people that come back and, a lot of times, they’ll buy something, and then they’ll come back in and say, ‘I’m not here to buy.’ And we tell them just to make yourself at home and enjoy. And that makes them happy.”

Nash adds that her customer base stretches from locals living here on the Grand Strand to those visiting from across the United States and into Canada.

“We find both those shopping for themselves and interior designers shopping with us,” she says.

Not only is clientele drawn to shopping and browsing the namesake bolts and bolts of fabric, but also home décor accessories for the indoors and out. The inventory also includes furniture (chairs, sofas, tables, dressers), pillows, drapes, window treatments, upholstery, gifts, lamps, rugs, artwork, and more. The two Rose Arbor Fabrics stores, as well as Nash’s sister store, Barbara’s Fine Gifts, which opened in 2008 next door to the Myrtle Beach location, also offer interior design services from anything on the floor.

“We are always willing to help and help put things together for them,” says Nash.

What catches her eye when shopping for fabrics to stock?

“I look for happy colors – always happy,” she says. “I have a hard time buying grays. And you can tell in the store we don’t have a lot of grays and neutrals. We tend to have more color. I’m drawn to that. I think fabrics have gotten prettier over the years.”

Nash says she tries to float between the two stores but feels confident in her crew on the south end that has been running things since first opening.

“They’ve really done a good job hand learning the ropes because most of them came in and didn’t know anything about fabrics just like I did 30 years ago,” she says. “I didn’t know what a yard of fabric was!”

Nash says her mother is an interior designer, which led her down this business path. Nash graduated from the College of Charleston with a degree in business administration.

“We always like to make people happy,” she says. “And we’re always honest with them and pride ourselves on customer service. We want them to leave with a smile on their face. I love it when people bring in pictures of the finished product from what they started with here. That’s one of our favorite things: to see something that we’ve helped to create in some way and have it come to life.

Nash says that Rose Arbor Fabrics will be hosting special events in the fall, such as an open house the weekend before Election Day, when all three stores will have 20 percent of all items storewide.

Rose Arbor Fabrics Myrtle Beach is located at 6916 North Kings Highway and in Pawleys Island at 11302 Ocean Highway. They are in the process of designing a new website. For now, for more information, call 843-449-7673 for Myrtle Beach or 843-979-9970 for Pawleys Island.
