A Southern Celebration: The Wedding of Sam Cacace and Luke Williams

By Haley Brandon

In the heart of spring, on May 4, 2024, Sam Cacace and Luke Williams celebrated their love with a wedding at Caledonia Golf & Fish Club in Pawleys Island, South Carolina. Their special day was full of personal touches, cherished traditions, and moments they’ll never forget.

Sam and Luke’s love story began long before their wedding day. The pair met in third grade at St. James Elementary School and grew up together, their bond evolving into a romantic relationship in the ninth grade. After years of shared experiences and milestones, Luke proposed to Sam on February 7, 2023, at the serene Annandale Plantation, marking the beginning of their next chapter together.

Caledonia Golf & Fish Club, a venue steeped in Southern charm, was the perfect venue for their wedding. For Luke, it was a place of familial significance, and hosting the wedding there was a meaningful way to honor his grandfather. The expansive landscape of stunning live oaks and flowers added to the charming atmosphere of their celebration.

Sam’s approach to her wedding colors, attire, and decor reflected her desire for a day that was both beautiful and inclusive. She chose green as the primary color, a versatile and elegant choice that tied together her bridal party’s mismatched dresses. “I wanted my girls to be able to pick a dress that they felt comfortable in and that they would wear again,” she shared. To complement the variety of patterns and textures in the dresses, Sam opted for simple yet elegant floral arrangements.

When it came to her wedding dress, Sam stayed true to her instincts. “I had an idea of what I wanted and ended up with just that!” she recalled. The dress, chosen with the help of her stylist, was the last one she tried on, and it perfectly captured her bridal vision. Sam also incorporated sentimental elements into her look, including her mother-in-law’s veil and her sister’s wedding shoes and earrings. For her hair and makeup, she opted to keep things polished but natural, ensuring she still felt, and looked, like herself. Crystal with Bridal Beauty Authority brought her vision to life beautifully.

Sam’s creativity and attention to detail shone through in the wedding decor. She embraced DIY projects like crafting the invitations, signage, and other decorative elements with the help of family and friends. Luke’s grandmother added a personal touch by hand-writing the invitations, which were then printed on elegant paper. Maddie Centracchio, a friend of the couple’s, contributed a stunning watercolor design for the envelope liners. Using her trusty Cricut machine, Sam designed and created the welcome sign, bar menu, and seating chart. Every detail reflected the couple’s personalities and the love they poured into their special day.

The ceremony itself was ingrained with heartfelt moments that reflected the couple’s relationships. Luke’s assistant soccer coach from Coastal Carolina University officiated the ceremony, traveling all the way from Florida to be part of their day. The couple also included a heartfelt moment of silence to honor family members who could not be present. As the bridesmaids made their way down the aisle, Timmy Pierce performed an acoustic rendition of Taylor Swift’s “Lover” on his guitar. Moments later, Sam followed, walking to the heartfelt melody of Matt Stell’s “Prayed for You.”

Following the ceremony, guests moved to the reception area for a celebration filled with laughter, music, and delicious food. Inlet Affairs catered the event, delighting guests with a menu of pizza, pasta, and sliders–a departure from traditional wedding fare but a perfect reflection of Sam and Luke’s personalities. Dessert was a highlight of the night, featuring scoops of Stella’s Ice Cream in some of the couple’s favorite flavors. Later in the evening, late-night Chick-fil-A sandwiches were served, a fun touch that kept the party going.

Opting for a band over a DJ, Sam and Luke prioritized the lively energy that only live music can provide. The decision paid off, as the band kept the crowd dancing all night. At the end of the night, the couple joined the band on stage for a rendition of “Don’t Stop Believing.” “It was nothing short of perfect,” Sam recalled.

Reflecting on her experience, Sam’s advice to future brides is simple but invaluable: hire a wedding planner. Cayce and her team at Steele Magnolia Events ensured that every detail was seamless, allowing Sam and Luke to fully immerse themselves in the joy of the day without stress. “They made our day stress-free and absolutely perfect,” she said.

As Sam and Luke embark on their new life together, they are most excited about building a future filled with love, growth, and shared adventures. From traveling to creating traditions of their own, they look forward to embracing life’s moments—both big and small—as a team.
