Letter from the Editor: Determination

By Leslie Moore

Sasee Theme: Determination

This July is a big month for me. On the 13th, I will turn 50. Yes, my friends, it’s a big birthday! For the past few months, I’ve been thinking a lot about this milestone and how I feel about it. And, I’ve come to the conclusion that I really am getting better, in most everything, as I age. I trust myself more and listen to others less. Knowing what I now know about life has given me much more compassion, and I no longer feel the need to judge anyone for anything. I take much better care of myself than I did in my 20s, or even 30s, and I’m looking pretty darn good for a (gasp!) 50 year old. Most importantly, I know that no matter what life throws my way, I will be able to catch it and make it into something good. I know that I am blessed with the love of family and friends, satisfying work and – most importantly – the ability to survive if I lost it all tomorrow.

I hope you enjoy our “Determination” issue. It was, as always, a lot of fun to put together. And, thanks to all of you who write and let me know what you like, and what you don’t like. Your comments help us continue to make Sasee the very best she can be!

Happy Birthday to Me,
Leslie

Only as high as I reach can I grow, only as far as I seek can I go, only as deep as I look can I see, only as much as I dream can I be.
